Last week we focused on stress in the work place which was extremely relevant in going into May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health greatly impacts various areas of life including work and personal experiences. As employers and team members we can evaluate our own mental health and be aware of challenges others may be facing.
Mental health is part of one’s overall wellbeing and healthy living. There is starting to be more focus on mental health in our county and organizations, such as Mental Health America, are helping break the negative stigma of mental health issues. In Southeast Texas, a local chapter of Mental Health America reformed last year and is helping bring local awareness to individual and community challenges we face because of mental health conditions.
If you are wondering about your own mental health, Mental Health America has an online screening tool that can help you evaluate your own mental health. This screening is not meant to replace a diagnosis or visit with your doctor but it can provide a first step in helping you determine if you have a mental health concern. Take the screening at: http://screening.mentalhealthamerica.net/screening-tools
Mental Health America is also supporting a health challenge to make small, positive change for both physical and mental health. This challenge, #4Mind4Body, provides information for a variety of health topics including: diet and nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and gut health. If we stay health in mind and body that helps productivity on the job and a positive personal life.
One Team. One Vision. One Goal. – Everyone Goes Home Safe!
