Mason Construction, Ltd. has always worked to be a safe company and in the 1980’s we focused on building a safety culture within our company. We implemented in-house safety trainings, policies, and procedures as well as collaborated with industry affiliates who focus on providing safety education and information. The National Safety Council is an organization we are proud to be a member.
The National Safety Council (NSC) is a nonprofit membership based organization that’s mission is:
"To save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy.”
Their Vision: making our world safer
NSC works to make the world measurably safer by looking at data and research. According to their website, NSC advances this mission by engaging businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to help prevent the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. – unintentional injuries. Both NSC and Mason Construction, Ltd. focus on pursuing best practice solutions to safety issues.
Nsc.org lists most preventable injuries and deaths that occur because of the following reasons:
- cell phone use while driving
- teen driving
- workplace safety
- prescription painkiller use
- safety in the community.
The have several awareness campaigns that focus on safety months. One of which is June as National Safety Month. They also promote April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. We can all learn how to be more aware and safe on the roads and in our daily activities. NSC members can benefit from a number of educational opportunities provided including Workplace Safety and First Aid.
During the month of June, NSC will be providing downloadable resources that highlight different safety topics:
- Week 1 (through June 12): Stand Ready to Respond
- Week 2 (June 13-19): Be Healthy
- Week 3 (June 20-26): Watch Out for Dangers
- Week 4 (June 27-30): Share Roads Safely
